Solution

  1. STRS OHIO must divest 100% of our money from companies connected with the private prison industry specifically The Geo Group & others. In addition, quarterly progress updates should be formally given to constituents and contributors of the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio. Divesting from CoreCivic is not enough.
  2. STRS OHIO must increase investment in Black-owned companies, companies with Black senior executives and Black-led investment firms with Black partners & money managers. According to the Ohio Department of Development, nearly 1.7 million African-Americans account for approximately 15% of the State of Ohio’s population therefore investment work with Black businesses should be at least 15% or higher.
