Solution
- STRS OHIO must divest 100% of our money from companies connected with the private prison industry specifically The Geo Group & others. In addition, quarterly progress updates should be formally given to constituents and contributors of the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio. Divesting from CoreCivic is not enough.
- STRS OHIO must increase investment in Black-owned companies, companies with Black senior executives and Black-led investment firms with Black partners & money managers. According to the Ohio Department of Development, nearly 1.7 million African-Americans account for approximately 15% of the State of Ohio’s population therefore investment work with Black businesses should be at least 15% or higher.
